On October, 3rd, 2006, the long-term agreement on gas cooperation has been signed at the bilateral meeting of the Russian and Kazakhstan presidents Vladimir Putin and Nursultan Nazarbaev, in Uralsk.
The cooperation agreement in creation of an economic society on the basis of the Orenburg gas-processing plant according to which on May, 31st, 2007 "KazRosGas" company has concluded a number of the necessary long-term contracts providing purchase and processing on capacities of joint venture of sour gas of the Karachaganak field, in volume not less than 15 billion cubic meters per year and realization of the processed gas in the market of the Republic Kazakhstan and its export.
According to the signed document, Russia will enter the assets of Orenburg gas-processing plant as an authorized capital; Kazakhstan will contribute the share money. They will be spent on development of gas-transport system and enterprise modernization. "NC "KazMunayGas" JSC and "Gazprom" OJSC are defined as the authorized organizations in joint venture creation. Shares of participation in joint venture will be distributed on a parity basis.
